Wild Horses

This image was taken in Wyoming at the Grand Tetons in October of 2003. The Tetons are my favorite mountain ranges to photograph so I am likely to spend a lot of time there. I was searching for a new composition when I came upon these horses grazing in the field at the base of the mountains. Watching these beautiful animals I was reminded of a time when horses roamed free across the open ranges of our country. I wanted to convey that feeling of freedom, so I waited patiently for the horses to arrange themselves in the perfect composition, and as you can see they did just that. I was able to capture a shot that was better than I had envisioned.
